Emmnuel Iwuanyanyu has raised alarm over the increasing kidnapping
and robbery in the country, especially in the South-east and
South-south region.
Chief Iwuanyanwu, who is the Chairman of Nigeria
Investment Promotion Council (NIDC), stated this at Anambra State
University, Uli during his installation as a patron of Legends Club
of Nigeria, Uli chapter.
He lamented that kidnapping has no boundary as
prominent people, including traditional rulers, businessmen and
innocent people, have become victims lately.
Chief Iwuanyanwu said in the past, police chase
robbers, but today they chase police, stressing that robbery and
kidnapping do not bring enduring wealth but hard work, trust and
fear of God.
He told the members of Legend Club and other
guests including the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Paul Orajaka that he has
always identified with the youths because they are the future
generation.
Chief Iwuanyanwu called for collective
responsibility on the part of the nation directed at youths as well
as giving them enabling environment.
He said that the situation in the country has
gone terribly bad, lamenting that with all the efforts to attract
investments into the country, robbery, killings, kidnapping and
assassination have continued to shy-rocket, thereby posing threat to
government’s investment drive.
The member, Board of Trustees, Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), said that this is even more disturbing, when the
perpetrators are youths in our universities.
Stating the importance of youths, Chief
Iwauanyanwu said "if you went to destroy a people, destroy their
youths. If you destroy the youths, you have destroyed their people,
their culture and civilization".
He challenged the members of Legend Club that
what they were doing "was a generational challenge. In every
generation, a people must arise to save their people. God has raised
you. See no obstacle. Don’t be intimidated put your trust in God. We
want to see a new Nigeria, a new Igbo race. Regard yourselves as
evangelist of a new order in this university."
