Rule with fear of God,
pastor tells Oshiomhole
By EJIKEME OMENAZU
As the new Edo state
governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is settling down for
business, a cleric, Rev. Dr. Felix Nwosu has advised him to
rule the people with fairness and fear of God.
Rev. Nwosu who spoke to
Sunday Champion in Lagos said that as a God-ordained
leader, Oshiomhole must run an open and people-oriented
administration.
The cleric said that
since Oshiomhole’s government was not a product of
godfatherism the governor should be very careful and should
not give such people a space in his administration.
He also advised him to
be ware of sycophants who may want to take over the seat of
power adding that Oshiomhole must avoid the pit falls of
former Edo sate executives.
Rev. Nwosu also urged
the governor to ensure that he works in harmony with the state
legislature if he wants his programmes and plans for the
people to run smoothly.
"We expect great changes
as a labour leader who fought for the people. Now is his time
to demonstrate those ideals he stood for. People are expecting
the best from him," he stressed.
Rev. Nwosu noted that
Oshiomhole’s victory was celebrated all over the nation even
more than that of the president, adding that the euphoria that
greeted his emergence could only compare with that of Barack
Obama of United States of America (USA).
"We therefore look
forward to the transformation of Edo State, and change of
policies. As the oldest ancient city in Nigeria, Benin should
be magnificent.
He should turn it to a
beautiful city everyone should be proud of," he emphasized.
He urged him to be
careful in selecting his cabinet and other officers who will
work with him adding that he should follow the style of his
Lagos state counterpart, Babatudne Fashola.
"Let us see action and
not just policies. Let there be visible progress. Everybody is
aware that we now have democracy in Edo and not autocracy or
dictatorship.
"Let him take a cue from
Lagos so that more people will have a feel of what Action
Congress (AC) government is," he added.
Rev. Nwosu also
congratulated the judiciary for not allowing the miscarriage
of justice as experienced in Edo State during the last
election adding that judges should help to correct all such
anomalies through their impartial and unbias rulings as seen
in the one of Oshimhole.
"We are praying for
Oshiomhole, we believe that God will see him through," Rev.
Nwosu added.
