With just two games to go in Group 12 of the
qualifiers of the 2010 World Cup/ Nations Cup, the Pharoahs of Egypt
appear to have the odds stack against them as they journey to
Kinshasa to face the group leader, The Leopards of DR Congo.
The Egyptians enter into this weekend’s match
with 9 points, same as the Congolese, but will need to win at all
cost to avoid being caught up by the Flames of Malawi who take on
Djibouti in an away match.
Pharoahs’ handler, Hassan Shehata, is worried
that some of his key players are nursing one injury or the other,
and he is looking at Sunday’s match as a make or mar encounter.
The coach may have even complicated the matter,
when he announced that Mohamed Zidan will not be part of the team to
play in Kinshasa.
Technically, Malawi appear to have an advantage
over Djibouti, and picking maximum points in Djibouti may not be a
problem for the Flames.
If Malawi win against Djibouti, and DR Congo were
able to overcome the Pharaohs, the Egyptians may just find
themselves out of the race for Angola 2010.
