Akwa United hitman, Chibuzor
Ozurumba, has declared that he is no longer interested in lacing boots
for the struggling Glo Premier League side.
Ozurumba, who is yet to taste
action this term, said he has resolved to take his career elsewhere,
since he could no longer work with the club’s head coach, Godwin Uwua.
The Shell Cup product who spoke
exclusively to League Service, said he is enjoying his stay in
Uyo.
"I will be deceiving myself if I
stay put in Uyo. The coach is not using me. So, I have no choice but
to take my career elsewhere,"Ozurumba stated.
The petit forward stressed that
he has offers from other clubs, insisting that he would land it big
elsewhere once he bids bye to Uyo.
"I am very confident I won’t be
clubless after leaving Akwa. I have offers from other clubs. I will
make up my mind on where to go in the next couple of weeks," Ozurumba
declared.
Blaming his woes on the
embattled Uwua, Ozurumba said he does not understand why the former
Flying Eagles coach has refused to give him opportunity to play, even
when Akwa’s attack has been blunt.
"We have not been scoring goals
and the coach still doesn’t see any reason he should use me. So, its
better I step aside because I can’t continue to warm the bench, even
at a time the club is not doing well."
Ozurumba, who rose to national
limelight with the Shell Cup, started his pro-soccer career with
Heartland of Owerri, a club that was reluctant to allow him go two
seasons ago when he signed the dotted lines for Akwa United.
