•••Acision to provide VAS in
Ghana
NIGERIA’S Second National
Operator, Globacom has selected Acision, the world’s leading messaging
company, to provide Value Added Services (VAS) for its new mobile
network in Ghana.
Globacom with over 20 million
subscribers is growing rapidly in West Africa through the recent roll
out of its network in Benin Republic and the acquisition of an
operating license in Ghana.
Glo Mobile Ghana is targeting
market leadership with an array of unique propositions when it
launches in Ghana in 2009.
The deployment of products
including the Acision SMSC, Acision MMSC, Acision Voicemail, Acision
High Speed Proxy for mobile data services and Acision Prepaid System
will allow Glo Mobile Ghana to provide compelling value-added services
in an increasingly competitive market.
Glo Mobile Ghana said Acision is
operating a high performance system with the capacity and flexibility
to deliver new and differentiated communication services.
Acision, whose local partner is
Africa-based Tech Future Limited, has a wide range of experience ideal
to meet Glo’s pre-requisites. Acision provides communication solution
for over 300 network operators and service providers worldwide.
"As we expand into Ghana,
Acision is the obvious choice to partner to replicate the success we
have already achieved in Nigeria," said Mohamed Jameel, Globacom’s
Group Chief Operating Officer.
"Acision’s innovation matches
our vision of building the biggest and the best telecommunication
network in Africa.
"We have established a pedigree
for providing unparalleled mobile services in any market where we
operate. This agreement between us and Acision is the start of a
partnership that will enable Glo Mobile Ghana to offer a
differentiated service in the highly competitive Ghanaian market", he
said.
Also commenting, Richard Lowe,
general manager, Europe and Africa at Acision said: "With over 20
years experience in delivering innovative solutions, Acision is the
ideal partner for network start-ups and established operators alike.
"Working with Glo Mobile Ghana
is extremely exciting for us as it further demonstrates Acision’s
commitment to enabling operators in emerging markets to deliver
advanced messaging services more traditionally associated with mature
markets. Globacom has ambitious expansion plans and we are pleased to
be part of the process in partnering with them to achieve their goal,"
Lowe added.
