LG Poll: Oshodi Christian leaders back Aina
as the Local Government
election holds in Lagos, Saturday October 11, the Oshodi Christian
Community has resolved to enthrone a tested, honest and credible
personality as executve Chairman of the council.
In a consultative meeting hall
at First Baptist church, Oshodi, the forum which is made up of
church leaders and pastors in the area, paticipants maintained that
Oshodi community has witnessed great deteriotation due to non-challant
attitude officers of the council.
The meeting held in
collaboration with the National Christian Fellowship of Nigeria
lamented that the area has remained without remarkable improvement
since the exit Hon. Prince Samuel O. Aina as the helmsman of the
council.
The participants, therefore,
resolved to recall Prince Aina and work hard to ensure his emergence
as the council boss during the October 11 poll.
The church leaders, in
resolving to support Prince Aina, recounted several successses the
council recorded during his first tenure.
These include the construction
and completion of the council secretariat in a record time, tarring
of several roads, construction of drainages and culverts.
Stressing that when the
righteous rules, the peope rejoice, the church leaders noted that
during Prince Aina’s first tenure, he won several laurels like the
Best Local Government Chairman in South West on Prudent Management
of fund and second Best Local Government Chairman in Project
Execution.
Speaking at the occasion,
chaired by Rev. Mike Utih, the president of the National Christian
Fellowship of Nigeria, Prince Aina pledged to give Oshodi a new
lease of life and improve upon his performance during his first
tenure.
He unfolded what he called his
four cardinal point programme which are in areas of road and
infrastructural development, education, provision of health
facilities and social services.
Prince Aina promised to
construct boreholes all over the local government, modern markets at
affordable rates to petty traders, empowerment of youths, unemployed
men and women, assisting of orphans, disabled and widows as well as
provision of sporting and recreational facilities in every ward.
In his speech, Rev. Utih urged
the church leaders to pray hard for the victory of their candidate
and embark on mass mobilisation of the people in Oshodi to ensure
mass participation of people in the election.
he urged them to go to
churches and markets to enlighten the people on the issues
concerning the local council election while advising those who have
not been registered to do so before the election.
Hon. Prince Aina, he stressed,
is contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
adding that his honesty and integrity cannot be questioned as he did
not disappoint the people, especially the Christian community during
his first tenure.
