Kogi varsity plans N10bn endowment fund

kOGI State University is to institute a N10 billion endowment fund to boost its growth and development, while the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris would receive an honorary doctorate degree at the forthcoming second convocation of the institution slated for October 11.

Out-going Vice- Chancellor of the University, Professor Francis Idachaba disclosed this during the pre-convocation press conference held at the Senate building of the institution stressing that he was leaving the institution, a fulfilled man having spent three years and four months on the position.

According to him, the projects to be endowed during the convocation are a Biotechnology laboratory center, convocation square, Theartre Arts auditorium, Law auditorium, students hostels projects, Health centre , and a Sports centre.

He urged all stakeholders, Kogians, Nigerians, friends, institutions, and organisations both local and international to turn out in their large numbers to contribute to the endowment fund.

He promised that the university would immortalised individuals and organisations who contribute handsomely to the endowment.

On the honorary doctorate degree, Pro Idachaba said that Idris is to be honoured based on his contribution to the growth and development of the educational sector in the sate and to the re-positioning and re-engineering and transformation of Kogi State University in particular.

Other doctorate awardees include, a former Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim (SAN) who is to be honored for his contribution to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.

During the convocation for the grandaunts of the 2004/2005,2005/2006 and 2006,2007 academics sessions, a total number of 3,379 students were expected to graduate.
